The Baha’i Religion: A Short Introduction to its History and Teachings. Oxford: George Ronald, 1988.

A very brief (54 pp) introduction to the history and teachings of the Baha’i Faith, followed by a long appendix (52 pp) of extracts from the Baha’i writings.

The introduction is arranged in 6 chapters:

1. The emergence and development of the Baha’i Faith.

2. Religious doctrines.

3. Social doctrines.

4. Morality and spirituality.

5. Community life.

6. Baha’i administration.

The extracts from the Baha’i writings include passages from the writings of Baha’u’llah, ‘Abdu’l-Baha and Shoghi Effendi. There is also a short bibliography.

Although informed by academic research, the book is written for the general reader and is suitable for use as part of courses on Comparative Religion.
